Membership Investment:	Each Business Council member's annual investment/support of the organization varies and is a combination of two factors: their membership category BASE RATE investment plus the equitable differential that applies to their membership category. The factors used in the Membership Investment Guidelines provides a basis for equity among firms that vary in the size within the same business category. Important Note:	A portion of the membership investment paid to The Business Council may be tax deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense Membership investment paid to The Business Council is not a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes.The Business Council is not a charity, but serves as an advocate organization for business. Please also note that in compliance with the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993, The County Council estimates that twenty-five percent (25%) of a member's membership investment is used by The Business Council for lobbying expenses [i.e., those activities The Business Council pursues to influence state or federal legislation through communication with members or employees of a legislative body or with executive branch officials who are involved in drafting or passing legislation]. As a consequence of the Act, twenty-five percent (25%) of your annual membership investment is not deductible for federal income tax purposes.
