The Executive Leadership Program

“I entered this leadership course with the hopes and expectations of looking to stay current with different trends and philosophies, as well as developing the tools necessary to assist my organization in creating strategic plans to move forward. I found this course to be stimulating, diverse, and very informative I think for anyone looking to continue an education in leadership and strategic planning... This is an excellent opportunity to do so”

- Melanie Van Dorn, Director of Admissions, Sarah Neuman Center

Pace University and The Business Council of Westchester

Today’s business owners and corporate leaders must have a successful strategy for leadership development. The Executive Leadership Development Program is designed to enhance the effectiveness and continuity of your organization by preparing candidates as the next generation of leadership. From networking to teamwork to critical thinking and communications, each Executive Leadership Development Program participant will establish foundational experiences that can be drawn upon during critical times when a strategic perspective is needed. The program also engages the participants in situations that are new and inspires them to address challenges different from their normal routine and technical purview.

Today’s leaders must be smart, technically savvy, and experienced in a fast-paced and multifaceted world. They know that to build an enterprise, set its course, and fully leverage the momentum of its products, services, and key employees’ experience and perspective is critical in a challenging marketplace. This nine-month program provides each student a unique opportunity to learn new concepts and explore alternative ideas, engage with expert instructors, gain practical experience through examining actual business case studies, and determine how these concepts can be applied to your business.

Each session is designed to equip participants with the ideas and tools to think and act more strategically. We also look at the leader as a person and explore personal skill development, such as “emotional intelligence”—how it can energize a leader and make a company stronger. Course content is connected with individual preparation and team exercises focusing on substantive content and case studies and relevant hypotheticals. An academic coordinator will also be available to guide the participant through the program.

In order to keep this program small and selective, we invite you to nominate a key employee or yourself to be a part of this exciting program now in its second successful year. Not only will participants gain valuable knowledge and skills, but also your endorsement of this program will help the Business Council of Westchester create a powerful network of future talent and leadership, as well as the critical mass necessary to ensure the growth of Westchester County. This in turn makes Westchester competitive in a global market and an excellent place from which to run a business.

Participants will attend nine monthly sessions that cover topics such as:

  • Strategic and Critical Thinking
  • Leadership Foundations
  • Emotional Intelligence in Leadership
  • Building Teams
  • Leading Change
